September 26-27

Edmonton Guitar Seminar

with Simon Farintosh

At Strawberry Creek Lodge

We are delighted to announce the next Edmonton Guitar Seminar, taking place September 26–27, 2026, with guest ensemble artist Simon Farintosh.

This welcoming weekend retreat is designed for classical guitar players who want to learn, play, perform, and connect in a supportive community setting. With a focus on ensemble playing, shared learning, and musical growth, the seminar brings together professional musicians, teachers, adult amateurs, students, developing players, and beginners for a relaxed but inspiring weekend of guitar.

The seminar will be held at Strawberry Creek Lodge, a peaceful rural retreat setting that gives participants time and space to step away from daily routines and settle into a weekend of music. Shared meals, comfortable gathering spaces, and the quiet surroundings help create the warm, social, and community-centred atmosphere that has become an important part of the Edmonton Guitar Seminar experience.

Participants can expect guided ensemble work, workshops, informal playing, shared meals, and time to connect with others who love classical guitar. All levels are welcome, and the atmosphere is supportive, collaborative, and non-competitive.

Who is invited?

The Edmonton Guitar Seminar welcomes classical guitar players across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and skill levels — from professional musicians and teachers to adult amateurs, developing players, students, and beginners.

Our First Two Years…

Launched in September 2024 by Marsello Avilez, the Edmonton Guitar Seminar has grown into a vibrant and welcoming community of classical guitarists — all ages, all levels.

Across four weekend seminars, we have gathered for ensemble playing, technical refinement, and shared musical exploration.

We were honoured to welcome guest artists Natasha Pashchenko (September 2025) René Izquierdo (February 2026)

Their artistry and insight helped shape an extraordinary past year.

Here’s what participants have said about the experience…

“I left this seminar and the previous one with new understandings that have been transformational to my practice habits.”

Returning Seminar Participant

“The opportunity to play alongside accomplished and other developing musicians was so much fun and an incredible learning experience.”

ANITA

“The sense of a welcoming and supportive community of wonderful people with common interests.  This is what I really value the most.”
